The One Shoulder
By Katya Akuma
Bare shoulders remain popular across global catwalks. Emphasis on one-shouldered asymmetry highlights, the natural contours of the body demonstrates sensuality. Dresses and tops are elevated by adding contrast cutaway sleeves, wide and knotted straps, gently deconstructed wraparound panels and sporty cutouts. Valentin Yudashkin, Versace and Etro are using pleating, draping and unique prints, such as florals and art-like graphics to achieve more sophisticated look, while Elie Saab is using sequined embellishments to offer a glamorous nod to the 1980s era.
